Books That Comfort, Empower, and Uplift

Belshay Books (formerly Belshay House) was founded by Ta’Shay Mason to help children navigate grief and loss with compassion and understanding. As an author, Ta’Shay creates beautifully written and thoughtfully illustrated books that guide children and families through some of life’s most challenging moments, all while giving them hope, language, and a sense of peace.

Meaningful Moments of Recognition

Meet The Author

I’m Ta’Shay Mason—an Army veteran, retired federal employee, and children’s book author who loves writing stories that inspire and heal. I volunteer as a grief support group facilitator and believe in the power of storytelling to bring comfort and hope.

My inspiration for A Child’s Journey Through Grief comes from my own experience of losing my father at the age of nine. Writing has given me a way to process that pain and share with others that grief is a journey—it takes time, creativity, and open conversations about loss to find healing. Through my books, I hope readers see themselves in Jazmine’s journey, discover ways to remember their loved ones, and feel encouraged to talk about grief.

Once I complete A Child’s Journey Through Grief series, I plan to continue Jazmine’s story in future books.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and collecting vinyl records. I also love hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family, friends, fellow veterans, and my Old English Bulldog, Bella.
